One of the most widespread problems that people face with sleeping is insomnia. It is a sleeping disorder where the person either has trouble falling asleep or remains asleep. But most people face the difficulty of not falling asleep despite the chance. Insomnia is not a disease but a symptom resulting in insufficient amount or the quality of sleep. This disorder in sleep is more common in women than men.

Almost every person suffers from the difficulty in falling asleep either for a short period or for a longer span of time. The main cause of this is the worries and pressure that one faces in the daily life. How can one have a good sleep with unstable mind?   • Before the bedtime, try avoiding matters that can force your brain to work for long hours.   • A warm bath taken before going to bed is another solution for the difficulty in falling asleep. This will relax both your body and mind and you will experience mental comfort. It will provide you with an effective sleep that will be reflected at your work.
  • Some people even fall asleep while reading a book or doing something else that interests them. When you choose reading for leisure then take care that the choice made is the right one. People suffering from trouble falling asleep cannot opt for any scary novel or any other book that deals with the problems of life. These kinds of books will excite your brain and thus will not provide the refreshment required.
  • Exercise is as beneficial as sleep to relax one’s body and mind, therefore, exercise regularly. It will keep both your mind and body fit and will give you desired result.
  • Never use alcohol to fall asleep. This is not recommended at all, for you can get addicted to it. Addiction can create more health troubles for you.

If the above mentioned information is of no help to you then consult a doctor. The problem can only be solved through medicinal help. Sleeping pills prescribed by the physician may also help the patient to sleep well, however, they must not be taken if the problem is chronic. Apart from medications, cognitive behavior therapy and non- pharmacological strategies are also effective in solving a person experiencing trouble falling asleep.
